In late August, the energetic host was meeting his match with two “CNG” contestants from an 80s cover band called “The Funkadelics.” The two girls, dressed in their 80s flare outfits, are balls of energy as they bounce around the sound stage, dancing out clue names and jumping up and down. It’s around the 60th episode taping and these ladies might be the most excited contestants yet.
"That was fun!" Ferguson tells Zap2it after they’re done, "Watching those girls go crazy was really exciting."
When asked if it’s ever difficult not to shout out the answers himself, Ferguson admits that he’s come pretty close. “They have game show cops here — it’s a real thing! When they are briefing me before the game everyone has to leave the room. They are pretty serious about it.”
However, the pressure on Ferguson is nothing compared to the celebrity guests who are supposed to help the contestants win — both by providing clues and guessing themselves. For this taping, “Glee” star Darren Criss and Grammy award winning singer Sheryl Crow are up to bat.
"It’s weird when the clock starts winding down. You start losing it!" Crow explains, "It’s amazing how fast it goes."
